Creating a Chat Room

Note: Your experience differ from the instructions shown below depending on the XMPP client you're using. The instructions below were created using Gajim on Windows Desktop.

Chat Rooms on GrimChat are group spaces for multiple GrimChat members to connect on their own terms. Chat Rooms can be Public, Private or Password Protected.

When joining/creating Chat Rooms, always remember that these types of groups always end in @rooms.grim.chat. Example: [email protected]

To create a new Chat Room on GrimChat, open the Start Chat window by clicking the + and then select Create Group Chat

Expand the Advanced Settings

Complete the fields per your needs:

Name	The display name of your Chat Room
Description	Longer description for your room (also known as the Topic)
Public/Private	Public rooms can be searched and joined by any GrimChat user Private rooms do not appear in search results. Only users invited by an Owner/Admin can join the room Password Protection can only be configured after your room has been created, and can apply to both Public and Private room types
Address	The address users will search to find your room

Once you're ready to go, click Create to create your room
