Law Enforcement Guidelines

We understand that law enforcement agencies may occasionally request information relating to users of our XMPP service. To balance lawful obligations with our commitment to privacy, please note the following:

What We Can Provide

  • Basic account metadata: Username/JID (the XMPP account identifier) and the date of registration.

  • Connection records: Timestamps of logins and IP addresses used to access our servers (as available in standard server logs).

  • Server-level metadata: Logs relating to abuse mitigation (e.g., spam detection events, failed authentication attempts).

What We Cannot Provide

  • Message content: We do not log or archive users' XMPP conversations. Messages exist only in memory for the purpose of delivery. Once delivered, they are not retained, and may also be subject to additional client-side encryption, as configured by the user.

  • User-identifying information: We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or any form of identity documentation.

  • Historical content: We cannot reconstruct past communications or provide data that is not already present in system logs.

Legal Process

  • All requests must be accompanied by valid legal process (e.g., subpoena, court order, or equivalent valid under applicable law).

  • Requests should clearly specify the account identifier (JID), time frame, and the exact information sought.

  • Emergency requests may be submitted with justification; we will respond as permitted by law and within our technical capabilities.
